11th Brunswick Euro Challenge

The 11th Brunswick Euro Challenge was held at Dream Bowl Palace in Munich, Germany. The 52 lane center is the largest in Europe and was the host of the 2010 Men's Worlds. The staff and owners make everyone feel at home and part of the family.

I showed up to Munich on Wednesday after being in Greece doing a few clinics for Brunswick with Ryan Ciminelli. This was my 1st time ever in Greece and I sure can't wait to get back and actually be a tourist. We were able to see a few of the sights but I am sure there is plenty more to see.

This years event scoring pace was way higher than it was supposed to be. The cut number was 1413 for 6 games. The format was 6 games of qualifying and you can re-enter as many times as you want. I bowled a total of 6 squads and was never able to figure out the fresh on each squad. The middle of each block was fine but when you get off to a slow start in a high scoring event, you better not leave room for error.

After 6 squads, I didn't make the cut but in Europe they have a 1 game desperado squad where the top 4 for 1 game make it to the finals. I of coursed had to enter. I feel like I can always bowl a big game on the burn. With over 60 entries, it was going to take a big game. I shot 256 and tied for the 4th spot. I advance to the finals virtue of a tie-breaking rule from highest finisher in the qualifying standings. I guess I would take it :)

The finals consisted of 64 players. The top 12 received a bye and the next 52 had to bowl 6 games to cut to the top 16 to join the 12 who got a bye.
I bowled extremely well in the 1st round with 300 over for the 6 and advanced easily. The 2nd round the scores got higher and I was not able to move on. I got off to a quick start but mad a bad decision not moving left game 4 and trying to hook a it a little. Guess kind of hard to do with how good hard and straight looked from right for 9 games.

Marshall Kent went on to win the event. This kid ha a bright future if he plays his cards right. Glad to call him my team mate on Team USA. Hopefully we can bowl together for a few years.

While in Germany, the PBA announced that the PBA Summer Swing will be in Oklahoma in May
. So excited for the summer swing.

My next few weeks I will be at home off and on. I just finished doing a feature with ESPN Sports Science in LA that will air April 13th. I leave in a week for the  Brunswick Mini Camp in Vestal, NY at Midway Lanes on April 6th that is sold out. After that, I am off to Las Vegas for the NFL Las Vegas ALL Star Classic with my Brunswick Teammates.

Until next time, have a great spring and finish off your league season on a high note. Hope to see you all at one of the Brunswick Bowling Camps during the summer.

June 22nd in Florida

11th Kuwait International Open

The 11th Kuwait International Open was contested at Cosmo Bowling Center in Kuwait City. This is one of my favorite places to go because of hotel we stay at and my ball strikes a lot in this center. I am returning this year as defending champion when I won my 1st ever International in 2013 when I defeated Mika.

The format is 15 games of qualifying over 3 days, 5 games a day. The top 6 get all the byes but the top 36 make the cut. If you make the top 6, you are seeded directly into the final step with 15 players.

I was able to get off to a good start shooting 239 over the 1st day, 222 over the 2nd day and 181 over the 3rd day to be the #1 seed going into the finals. This Mastermind Genius was the ball of choice to start every day.

Picture
The finals was 4 games and then 8 games of modified match play. I got off to a fast start with shooting my highest ever for 3 games and 4 games with games of 298, 279, 298, 236 for 1111.

In match play, the lanes were different to start and I fell quickly down the leader board. I was able to get comfortable after speaking with Shannon O'Keefe and grabbing another Mastermind Genius and moving way inside. I finished strong the last 5 games to qualify in 4th place for the TV show.

I bowled Stuart Williams on the TV show the 1st match. I never got comfortable on the TV pair during practice and didn't know what ball I wanted to throw. I made a few bad shots and lost the match 200-256.

I am happy with my 5th place finish. Congrats to Thomas Larsen from Denmark winning after a great performance during match play and also on the TV show.

Next event is the Brunswick Euro Challenge in Munich, Germany after a few clinics in Greece for BBBS/Brunswick.

Thanks again for all the support from my fans and family.

2014 H.H. Emir Cup

I made it to Doha, Qatar on Monday evening about 6 PM local time after traveling all day with teammate Tom Hess. When we arrived here, Tom was missing all 3 bowling bags and I was missing 1. Lucky we were able to go to the bowl that night and drill Tom 2 balls so he would have something for our 1st squad the next day. I was happy with the 3 balls I had that made it.
The format this week was bowling 2 five game blocks on 2 days with the top 28, 4 Qatar players and 4 desperado players moving on. We knew before we started scores were going to be high.
I got off to a good start the 1st day with plus 191. The 2nd day I shot plus 216 and advanced easily into the next round missing the top 6 bye by 31 pins. I used the Mastermind Genius and the Lt-48 1 game the 2nd day.
The next round consisted of 30 players bowling 5 games with only the top 10 moving on to join the 6 who got a bye. I got off to a good start again with 730 my 1st three games. The 4th game, I had 9 strikes for 200, with 3 splits on the left lane. With 1 game to go, I was 15 pins from the top 10 and knew I needed a big game. I decided to try a new ball to give me a better look, unfortunately, it turned out to be the wrong decision and I started slow. I made a ball change to throw the last 7 for 224 to miss the cut by 17 pins.
Scores were high but that is what it is. Good news is I felt better this eek than last week at the USBC Masters. I am excited to go home for a few days to see my wife Sara and baby Kaylee and get re-energized for Kuwait and Germany in a few weeks.
Thanks for all the support and positive thoughts.

USBC Masters Day 2 and 3

2/20/2014

The last two days of qualifying at the USBC Masters were two of the toughest days bowling in my PBA Career. I shot 912 and 921 for the two five game blocks to finish minus 126 for the event. It has been a few years since I just never saw the right picture. I never had the right ball motion, didn't know what part of the lane to play and it just was a bad week.
I want to thank everyone who helped me and everyone who encouraged me to keep pushing. I never gave up and kept trying things to learn as much as possible and hopefully wont have to repeat this anytime soon.
Good luck to all of my Brunswick/DV8/Radical Teammates who made the top 64 in match play. A special congrats goes out to Johnny Petraglia Sr. You give all of us inspirtaiton to keep working hard.
I have a few days left here in New Jersey with my father, Sara and Kaylee. Next event is the H.H. Emir Cup in Doha, Qatar next week.

USBC Masters Day 1

2/18/2014

Solid start to the 2014 USBC Masters today with games of 222, 227, 180, 218 and 194 for a total of 1041 and plus 41. I used two different Mastermind Genius and a Meanstreak Beatdown during the 5 game block. I started off between 8-10 at the arrows. My focus and key today was to get it to roll when exiting the pattern and letting it change a lot of direction. Hit some bad pairs game 3 and game 5 with a few bad shots trying to find a way to strike. Game 5 I finally moved into a stronger Genius.
Tomorrow I bowl my 2nd block of qualifying at 5 PM on the fresh again. After 2 squads today, I was in 83rd place about projecting to be about 40 out of the top 63.
Thanks to Kevin Tabron and Chuck Gardner f

USBC Masters Practice Day

Practice day for the USBC Masters was filled with learning as much about the pattern we are bowling on, the different parts of the 82 lane center at Brunswick Zone Carolier and what Brunswick Balls will look good throughout each block/day.
The format this week consists of 5 games of qualifying on 3 different days, 2 squads are on the fresh and 1  squad is on the squad we like to call the burn.
This Mastermind Genius looks like the ball to use on the fresh. It has a 5 1/2 inch pin from my PAP with a small axis hole on my axis, with a 45 degree mass. This is one of my favorite layouts. After a few games, I expect to move into a stronger Genius, LT-48 or Ringer Platinum when their is a spot to throw it at.

Picture
A look of all the balls that I have along with Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. We are taking up the back corner :)
This weeks field has 468 players bowling 15 games and will cut to the top 63 plus defending champion for the double elimination match play portion that starts Friday.
I am on A squad this year, so I start my qualifying on Tuesday at 8 am. My 2nd block is at 5 PM on Wednesday and my last block is Thursday at 12 PM.
Stay tuned for how things go as the week goes on.

Happy Valentines Day Fans,

I personally would like to welcome you all to the Official Website of Sean Rash. My first blog will come from the USBC Masters next week in N. Brunswick, New Jersey. The USBC Masters is one of my favorite majors on the PBA Tour. I won this event back in 2007 for my 1st PBA Major and 4th PBA Title in Milwaukee, WI at Miller Park.

Stay tuned for pictures and updates on how the event is unfolding for myself and other top players.
